The Beauty Spot-an Appalachian Trail jewel. While it's not technically a wedding venue, it's the perfect spot for one.

The Details & Vendors

Abigail and Brandon eloped and tied the knot on 06.27.26 at The Beauty Spot bordering East Tennessee and Western North Carolina in Unicoi County. The most gorgeous, intimate, surrounded by nature, secluded venue with a "pinch me" panoramic view of the mountains. Hince the name, "The Beauty Spot".

Their day was captured by Cheanna Leigh Photo. A faith-based photographer out of Tennessee who offers digital and film photography. Her photos are gorgeously candid, romantic, and intimate. Abigails wedding bouquet was designed and constructed by her sister and preserved by Maggie Day at Forgiven Flower Preservation- the go to spot for wedding bouquet preservation, if you ask me.

 

The Venue 

The Beauty Spot is an amazing wedding venue for a couple who wants to escape to the mountains, wants a scenic backdrop, doesn't want to have to hike to get there, wants to elope, couples that are planning a microwedding, or for the couples that want to have a secret exchange of vows before their "real church wedding"... without telling their parents ...I may know someone who did that. 

  For years, in my hometown of Kingsport, Tennessee this spot has been a treasure for any and all special occasions. I went to the Beauty Spot to take my senior pictures, sunrise breakfast picnic with my friends, and family members who have also gotten married there.

It's not only the gorgeous views that make it an attractive elopement, wedding, special event venue, it's so easily accessible, which is rare when seeking a mountain backdrop. 

It's trailhead is very accessible, especially if you're going to be wearing heels and a wedding dress. It's a very short walk uphill, to a high elevation grassy bald offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding Tennessee and North Carolina Mountains.

To access the Beauty Spot, the trailhead is off of a gravel road off Highway 395 near Erwin, Tennessee- so make sure you bring the proper vehicle to maneuver the gravel road. 

When To Plan Your Wedding at The Beauty Spot

Late Spring to early Summer, May-June, is all around the best time of year to plan your ceremony at Beauty Spot. The vibe around this time of year is lush, vibrant green, and filled with life. This late spring, time also brings more pleasant, cooler daytime temperatures, because of it's high elevation it stays cooler this time of year. The gravel road is also fully open, dry, and easily navigable compared to other seasons. 

Autumn, September-October, offers the most visually dramatic landscape. You'll sweeping, colorful vistas, an array of fall colors, and crisp mountain air. The views are unparallelled at this time of year with peak fall foliage across the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Sunset light is also softer in Autumn which makes perfect golden hour phots. However, this also makes it the most popular time of year. For hikers, wedding ceremonies, picture sessions, and just casual sunset-watchers. So you'll more than likely have to share the mountain with more crowds. 

Mid-Summer, July-August, is the easiest time of year to travel there and access the Beauty Spot, although it's also sundrenched and quite warm. It'll have that southern humidity, and temperatures sometimes in the 80s and 90s. This time of year also brings about weather concerns, specifically thunderstorms, so keep an eye out on the forecast, because it can be dangerous to access the point. 

And then you'll want to avoid Winter, late November-march, altogether. Most of the time the trail/ access point is closed off anyways.

Abigail's Pressed Wedding Bouquet Frame

As for Abigail's pressed bouquet piece, it was intentionally designed & styled according to her aesthetic and the shape/ construction of her bouquet. She wanted her piece to look and feel like her bouquet rather than having a deconstructed, abstract piece, which some brides prefer. 

For the flower preservation designer, having pictures from wedding day is very helpful throughout the design and styling process because we can get a really good idea of your wedding aesthetic and make the piece in alignment with that. 

Her frame was the 16x20 frame size, in our oak shade, with ivory backing. The 16x20 is our bestselling size for pressed wedding bouquet preservation. It's just enough space to be able to have total creative freedom with design. It's not too big, or too small, and it's the perfect size for a statement art piece in your home. 

The wedding bouquet was spriteful, colorful, whimsical, and very full of life. It consisted of roses, lily's, eucalyptus, dahlias, asters, mums, snapdragon, daisies, misty limonium (sea lavender), statice, and other little accent flowers, 

It was such a pleasure to preserve Abigail's wedding bouquet, not only because the bouquet was gorgeous, but also because she's someone from my hometown and got married at a wedding venue near and dear to my heart. Probably the case for anyone from East Tennessee and Northwestern North Carolina whose made many a trip to the lovely Beauty Spot and made many memories there.  

What a gift to save and frame wedding bouquets from such special occasions.
